Puttur: Teacher Couples to get Postings in Same Taluks

Puttur, Jan 28 (DHNS): Teacher-couples in the State need not run from pillar to posts to get a transfer to schools in the same taluk, where their spouses work. Minister for Energy Shobha Karandlaje promised that the government will provide opportunity for teacher-couples to work in the same taluks.

Speaking after inaugurating the district-level education convention held at the Bantara Bhavana here on Thursday, Karandlaje said, “I have already discussed the issues related to the transfer of teachers with Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa. Teacher-couples will be allowed to work in same taluk in future.”

It is the responsibility of the teachers to inculcate descipline and culture among children, she said. “It is unfortunate that 30 per cent of the teachers are engaged in politics more than teaching. Who will guide the society towards the right path if teachers take the wrong path,” she questioned adding that teachers should think of shaping children to be patriots.
Subramanya Mutt Seer Vidyaprasanna Swamy said that students should strive to build a civilised society. “Primary school teachers have more responsibilities on their shoulders than the higher education teachers,” he added.

Assn refutes charge

State Primary Teachers Association General Secretary Narayanaswamy countering the allegations made by the Minsiter said that the charges of teachers playing politics is far from truth. “I am ready for debate with the Minister on the issue. The Minister, who did not show  the courtesy to listen to the grievances, have left thevenue in a hurry,” he charged.
