Mangalore, Jan 31:  To mark the Centennial Jubilee of the Consecration of Holy Cross Church, Cordel, Kulshekar, here a singing competition was organized on at Cordel Hall on Sunday January 30.

Fr Valerian Pinto, parish priest, Cordel Church presided over the function. Addressing the gathering he said, music reflects the emotions of the singer and which reaches to the hearts of the audience. He also said that organizing such competitions gives a platform for new talent.
 
Mabel Menezes from Bejai, Maxim Pereira from Angelore and Vivian Santos from Jeppu were the Judges.. Maxim Pereira showed the audience how a singer should present his song with emotions. 

Fr Arun Lobo and Fr J B Moras, assistant parish priest of Cordel Church, Praveen Patrao, vice-president and George D’Souza, secretary of Kulshekar Church distributed the prizes to the winners.  Henry D’Souza compered the programme.

Sushil Noronha, the convener of cultural committee, welcomed the gathering.  Nishel D’Souza proposed the vote of thanks. Over 200 contestants including below-5 years of age to elderly group participated in the event.
