Mangalore, Jan 31: ‘Yuva Kela Sambram–2011’ was organized by Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) unit of St Joseph’s parish, Vamanjoor, in association with Western Institute of Technology at St Raymond’s School playgrounds, Vamanjoor, on Sunday January 30.

City deanery ICYM director Fr Arun Lobo, Vamanjoor assistant parish priest Fr Jesudas D’Costa, and parish council vice-president Roshan Kamath inaugurated the event. Roshan Kamath lit the sports torch that was lighted at the Vamanjoor church and carried by athletes till the St Raymond’s School playgrounds.

Over 600 ICYM members from 12 parishes across the city deanery participated in the Yuva Khela Sambram–2011 which comprised of athletics, volleyball, throw ball, and tug-of-war competitions. 
Vamanjoor parish bagged first place in the volleyball tourney while Bondel parish bagged the second place. 

Bondel parish bagged the first place in the men’s tug-of-war competitions while Neermarga parish bagged second place.  Vamanjoor parish bagged first place in the women’s tug-of-war competitions while Kelarai parish bagged second place.  Vamanjoor parish bagged first place in throw ball competitions while Kelarai parish bagged second place. 

The donors of Yuva Khela Sambram–Stany Cutinho, Francis Cutinho, Roshan Kamath, and Fr Jesudas D’Costa were present at the concluding ceremony held on Sunday evening. Vamanjoor parish ICYM unit president Rohan Pereira welcomed the gathering and proposed the vote of thanks.  City deanery ICYM secretary Ullas Menezes compered the programme.
