Bangalore: Caste Permutations May Rob Motamma of Her Position

Daijiworld Media Network – Bangalore (SP)

Bangalore, Mar 5: Sources in Congress party have confirmed that leader of the opposition in legislative council, Motamma, is likely to be stripped of her post. In all likelihood, this post will be given to veteran Lingayat leader, S R Patil. This is because of caste compulsions, they claimed.

Motamma is from backward category. Patil belongs to upper class, Lingayat community. Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president, G Parameshwar, belongs to the caste from which Motamma hails from. Considering this, the Congress high command has decided to make changes, by offering the post of the chairperson of Coffee Board of India to Motamma, sources added.

The party leadership has witnessed discontentment brewing within the party circles about the sidelining of upper castes while allotting organizational positions. It is said that it wants to assuage the feelings of these groups by offering the above post to S R Patil.

When contacted, Motamma told the media that she is not aware of any such development.
