Udupi, Jun 9: A wife filed complaint against her husband accusing him of harassing her for dowry, inflicting mental and physical torture and threat to kill.
Veena Ratnakar Shetty, wife of Ratnakar Shetty, resident of Cherkady, Kudkunje, is the woman who has filed complaint with the police.
According to details, Veena got married to Ratnakara Shetty at Brahmavar in 1999. During that time, the accused had kept a demand of Rs 10 lac cash and 15 sovereign of gold as dowry. The family members of Veena had given Rs 3.60 lac in cash and 15 sovereign of gold.
Within a month of marriage, Veena was harassed mentally and later assaulted by husband Ratnakar on the instigation of Rajiv Shetty and Raviraj Shetty of Cherkadi and Vasant J Shetty of Ultur. In addition, Veena was threatened with life also.
A case in this connection is registered in women police station.
