Puttur, Jun 10: Two bike-borne robbers snatched Karimani (Mangalsutra) chain from the neck of a woman who was walking on the road at Konadka of Bettampady village.

Ratna was going to her home on June 7. Two bike borne men were moving from Renja to Chooripadavu. One of them called her Akka (elder sister) and as she turned, pulled her chain. Ratna screamed as well as held on to the chain. However, the accused got half part of the chain.

The total weight of the chain was 26 grams. The robber was able to snatch 11 grams of it. It is estimated that the cost of 11 grams of the chain is about Rs 50000.

A case in this connection is registered in rural police station.
