Kundapur, Jun 11: ABVP Kundapur staged protests demanding KSRTC bus service on Kollur – Hemmadi – Kundapur – Keradi – Maranakatte – Kundapur – Keradi – Bellala – Kundapur route.

ABVP taluk convener Jayasurya Shetty addressing the protesters said that there is no government bus facility to the Kollur pilgrim centre. “Therefore, students have to pay and travel to their schools and colleges even now. Poor students face hardship because of that. About 1,000 to 2,000 students travel to Kundapur from Kollur every day," he said. 

“It is sad that there is no bus facility to world famous Kollur. About 400 students on Keradi – Bellala - Kundapur route and about 500 students on Maranakatte – Kundapur route are deprived of transport facilities. KSRTC buses do not run here despite having a permit. Letters written to the concerned officials, MLA, minister and the chief minister in this connection were of no avail. Though the local MLA has written to the deputy commissioner there was no positive response,” he said.

“ABVP student parishat will sit on protest with more than 5,000 students in front of KSRTC depot and block the KSRTC buses on all the routes if the issue is not resolved within a week,” they warned.

Taluk student leaders Dhwani, Bhankadarkar’s college’s Nagesh, Srinidhi, B B Hegde college’s Anusha, Basrur Sharada college student Ranjith, Deepa, Koteshwar government college student Abhishek, R N College student Nithin and others were present.
