Udupi: Three-day exhibition of masks from June 17 at Aditi Gallery

Udupi, June 13: Aditi Gallery Udupi is organising a three-day exhibition of “Masks from Around the World” from Friday, June 17, a media release said.

Mask or a second face is an object worn on the face, typically for protection, disguise, performance, or entertainment. Masks have been used since ancient times for ceremonial and practical purposes, as well as in the performing arts and for entertainment.

Managing Trustee of Aditi Gallery, Dr. Kiran Acharya informed that the intention of organising this exhibition is to spread awareness about this enigmatic world of masks.


The exhibits are specially designed with a description given for every mask. About 150 masks made of a variety of materials from South America, Italy, Srilanka, Nepal, Bhutan and Africa will be on display.

On Thursday, June 16 at 5:15 PM, Kurma Rao M Deputy Commissioner will inaugurate the exhibition.

Dr H T M Vasappa, DGM and RO, Union Bank, Udupi and Arvind Vyasaraya Ballal, Art connoisseur, Mumbai will be the guests of honour of this event

The exhibition will remain open from June 17 to 19 between 10 am and 8 pm.
