Bengaluru, Jun 15: The ambitious single house scheme implemented by the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) for providing houses to the poor and backward classes will be relaunched soon and the necessary official orders will be issued shortly, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said in Bengaluru on Wednesday.

He was speaking at a function to inaugurate several projects in the Chickpet assembly constituency in the city under the ‘’K-100’’ programme jointly organized by the State Government, BBMP and Smartcity Ltd at Kalasipalya.

Bommai said BBMP’s one house scheme had been kept in abeyance following the Covid pandemic and would be launched again to enable those with plots to build houses.

The Chief Minister said the State Government will set right all the legal hurdles in the path of development and implementation of infrastructure projects in Bengaluru to ensure that the State capital will live up to its status as an international destination for the best of road infrastructure, health and educational facilities.

Bommai said Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be laying the foundation stone for the Rs 15,000 crore Bengaluru Suburban and Peripheral Ring Road projects on June 20, which once completed will largely solve the traffic congestion in Bengaluru. An outlay of Rs 8,000 crore has been provided for the comprehensive development of Bengaluru and all the major storm water drains are being developed at a cost Rs 1,600 crore, the work on which commence after the monsoon, he said.
