Mangalore: Benjamin D’Souza Memorial District Hockey League Inaugurated

Mangalore, March 15: The Benjamin D’Souza Memorial District Hockey League for men organized by the Dakshina Kannada Hockey Association (DKHA was kicked off on Monday March 14 at St Aloysius College grounds. 

 

In all nine teams are playing in this tournament. The match will continue till March 24 and  upto March 21, league matches will be played. The semi-final match will be on March 23. The final match is scheduled to be played on March 24.

St Aloysius College A and B team, St Philomena Hockey Club, Mangalore University Hockey Club, Vamanjur Sports Club, Mangalore Hockey Club, KMC Mangalore, NITK Suratkal and Alva's Moodbidri are the teams. Fr Swebert D’Silva, principal, St Aloysius College inaugurated the tournament.

Dr Loren Mathias, orthopedic in KSHEMA presided. DKHA secretary Gerald D’Souza was present.

    Excellent news -I am proud of Gerald for instituting this Hockey Tournament in his Father's name.My friend Benjamin was the best physical director D.K.district has ever seen and has been a source of inspiration for many budding sportsmen.May you continue to keep his memory and values alive.
