Mangalore, Mar 17: The first ever Jodukere ‘Jaya-Vijaya’ Kambala in Jappinamogeru near here will be held under flood lights on Saturday March 19. This was informed by J Anil Shetty, president of Kambala Committee, at a press conference held on Tuesday March 17. He said that the Kambala will be held on the bank of River Netravati in Jappinamogeru, in memory of Mankutota-Nadajeguttu J Jayagangadhar Shetty.

The Kambala will be inaugurated at 8.30 am on that day by Derebail Vittaladas Tantri. Managing trustee of Mangaladevi Temple, Ramanath Hegde, will preside. The meeting being held at 6 pm will be presided over by district in-charge minister, Krishna J Palemar. MP, Nalin Kumar Kateel, tourism minister, Janardan Reddy, assembly deputy speaker, N Yogish Bhat, MLAs, Abhayachandra Jain, D K Shivakumar, B Ramanath Rai, U T Khader and Krishnabyre Gowda, MLC, Ganesh Karnik, Coastal Development Authority chairman, B Nagaraj Shetty, Dakshina Kannada district deputy commissioner, Subodh Yadav, and police commissioner, Seemant Kumar Singh, will participate. Cine stars, Ganesh and Shivdhwaj, will participate as guests, he added.

At 8.30 pm that day, a musical programme will be presented by Sur-Sangam team from Mangalore. About 150 pairs of buffalos are expected to take part in the Kambala from Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, and Kasargod districts, he explained.

Committee office bearers, Vinay Naik, Sudhakar Shetty, Rajiv Shetty, corporators, Bhaskarachandra Shetty, J Nagendra Kumar, and Padmanabh Shetty, were present.
