Udupi, Jul 8: Locals here held protests temporarily filling the pothole on the road that was troubling people in the absence of action from the local administration. The efforts to draw the attention of the administration were held in Udupi on Thursday July 7. A huge pothole had developed at Pandubettu, Malpe main road posing danger for vehicles.

More than 12 accidents had occurred here during the last four days. It had posed a serious problem for two wheeler riders. The nearby shopkeepers and local people have been shifting the injured to the hospital soon after accidents.

The problem is not solved even after bringing the matter to the notice of gram panchayat and municipal council administration. As the pothole is filled with rain water, vehicle drivers are risking their lives. The issue has become complex as there is no street light here.

The local people, tired of the indifference of the administration, protested keeping coconut palm leaves on the pothole.
