Mangalore, Mar 23: The Dakshina Kannada (DK) unit of People’s Union for Civil Liberties led by retired Justice Michael F Saldanha met PM Dr Manmohan Singh, Indian vice-president Hameed Ansari, union law and justice minister Veerappa Moily, union home minister Chidambaram, union minorities minister Salman Khurshid Alam, union minister of external affairs S M Krishna and Karnataka Governor H N Bharadwaj in the past week, in order to urge them to protect the minority community from communal violence.

They have also urged for the protection of their worship centres from future attacks by some vested interests. PM Dr Manmohan Singh and all union ministers including Governor H N Bharadwaj assured PUCL that all measures will be taken by the union government for peaceful co-existence of minority communities and protect their worship centres.
The PUCL has informed the same through the press release issued by Dakshina Kannada unit of PUCL.
