Bantwal, Jul 8: The four lane highway works at Kalladka on Mangaluru-Bengaluru national highway caused traffic jam from Friday July 8 morning till afternoon and travellers faced hardship.

The traffic congestion that began at 8 am continued till 12 noon. A long line of vehicles could be seen. The block that began due to a huge pothole formed near Kalladka Amtoor cross, continued for a long time. The traffic jam increased as some vehicle drivers drove their vehicles in zigzag manner. Ambulance vehicles too had to wait in queue for hours and struggled along with people going to work.

KNRC company which has taken over the contract of national highway works closed the pothole.

People are questioning the police department's inaction which acts even if the highway closes for five minutes is going soft on the undisciplined work of the highway contractors.
