Udupi: GastroIntestinal radiation oncology speciality clinic launched at Kasturba Hospital

Udupi, Jul 8: In association with Department of Radiotherapy and Oncology, Kasturba Medical College and Hospital Manipal launched Gastrointestinal Radiation Oncology Speciality Clinic on July 8.
 
Dr Sharath K Rao, dean – KMC, Manipal and Dr Anand Venugopal, chief operating officer, teaching hospital, Manipal jointly inaugurated the Clinic by unveiling the Plaque.
 
Dr Avinash Shetty, medical superintendent, Dr Krishna Sharan, professor and head department of radiotherapy oncology and Dr Shirley Lewis Salins, associate professor, department of radiotherapy oncology were present.
 
 
 
On this occasion Dr Sharath K Rao spoke about importance of starting new specialities and sub speciality Clinics and said KMC is fore front in starting and providing new services right from the beginning.
 
Dr Anand Venugopal said, “I am very happy that the department Manipal Comprehensive Cancer Care Centre grown over the past four years. Now one more feather added to its comprehensive patient care."
 
Dr Avinash Shetty said, "This speciality Clinic will be overseen by Dr Shirley Lewis Salins who has obtained one year clinical research fellowship in gastrointestinal radiation oncology from Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, University of Toronto, Toronto. She will be available for consultation on all week days."
 
Dr Shirley Lewis Salins gave an overview and scope of the gastrointestinal radiation oncology speciality clinic.
