Udupi: DC instructs officials to prevent cattle slaughter during Bakrid

Udupi, Jul 8: “Unauthorised slaughter and transport of cattle is banned during the Bakrid festival on July 10. Form teams under Anti Cattle Slaughter law and keep a watch,” he said to the concerned department. He was speaking after presiding over a meeting held today with the district committee formed for the purpose.

He directed check posts in the district to ensure that unauthorised transport of cattle is prevented. He directed the police department to make sure that untoward incidents do not happen.

He directed the concerned department to rescue in the identified goshalas the cattle confiscated during their unauthorised transportation. He said that people can telephone to the nearest police station if they come across cattle slaughter or transport.

He asked officials to make sure that there are no legal lapses during the Bakrid festival celebrations.

Kundapur sub divisional officer Raju, animal husbandry department deputy director Dr Shankar Shetty and other officials were present.
