Bengaluru, Jul 11: Higher Education Minister Dr C N Ashwath Narayan performed the Bhoomi Pooja for the construction of the Tumkur University’s ‘Kalpasiri’ post-graduate centre building at Rangapura in Tiptur being built at a cost of Rs 44 crore on Monday.

The minister urged the society to help and support the growth of educational institutions as progress in education leads to prosperity of the region, which in turn will help in empowering the people.

The new PG Centre is coming up in a 16 acre campus and will have M.Com. and MCA courses, he said explaining that the Tumkur University has seen lot of progress under the Smart City programme.

Dr Narayan stressed the need for enhancing the quality of education and improvement of the University’s present NAAC B+ to a higher grade and aim at rising above its present NIRF ranking between150 and 200.

Earlier, the minister visited the Tiptur Degree College and inspected its building work in progress and expressed his appreciation.

Keregodi Rangapur Mutt seer Sri Guruparadeshikendra Swamy presided over the function. Primary and Secondary Education Minister BC Nagesh, Tumkur University Vice Chancellor Prof Keshav, Syndicate Members Raju and TS Sunil Prasad, Registrar Prof Nirmala Raju, Finance Officer Prof P Paramashivaiah were among the dignitaries present.
