Mangalore, Apr 13: “A fresh army of 5,000 budding leaders is being built in Moodbidri constituency by Congress. The party will henceforth not face the dearth of young leaders. By April 25, the process of building this force will be concluded,” said newly appointed secretary of All India Congress Committee, Vinay Kumar Sorake.

He was addressing a meeting of Congress activists from the region, organized at Bajpe, to seek support for Congress candidates from Bajpe and Suratkal constituencies for the upcoming Agricultural Produce Market Yard election, on Tuesday April 12.

Sorake said that the concept of strengthening Congress party by providing more opportunities to fresh faces in the party, as conceptualized by Rahul Gandhi, will come true shortly.

He accused the state BJP government of promising to support agriculture, and then belying the faith of the people. He also criticized it for favouring Netravati River Diversion Plan.

MLA, Abhaya Chandra Jain, presided. Dakshina Kannada youth Congress central observer, Abu Sharma, former MLA, Vijayakumar Shetty, APMC Bajpe constituency candidate, Monappa Shetty Yekkar, Suratkal candidate, Chennappa Naik, Bajpe gram panchayat president, Sahul Hamid, zonal Congress president, B Ramachandra Shetty, and a number of other leaders were present.

On this occasion, Abhaya Chandra Jain felicitated Vinay Kumar Sorake, who has recently been elected as AICC secretary, and central observer, Abu Sharma.
