Mumbai, Jun 25: Pakistani Sailors rescued by Indian Navy from somalian pirates will be leaving for their homes on Monday June 27.
The five men were in captivity for five months and then were languishing at Yellow Gates police station as their consular access process caught in diplomatic conduit of two countries.
The pakistani High Commision contacted Yellow Gate Police station and completed formalities only after the inadiquasies of consular access programme were reported by media.
The formalities were earlier scheduled to be completed at Tihar jail in Delhi as the hostages were incorrectly labeled as prisoners.
The men are identified as Aurangzeb Balloch, his brother Sajjad, Farhad Aalam Khan, Mohammed Umair and Lal Bakhsh.
One of the men Aurangzeb said that they are excited to go home and that there were some problems in traveling to Pakistan but the Yellow Gate police resolved it.
"We have no words to thank the Indian police and those who helped in making our journey to Pakistan easy," he added.
They also exclaimed that during their stay in India for the last three months they found it similar to their home Karachi.
"Initially, we were afraid that we will not be sent home, but now we have a positive feeling about this country and its people who loved us," said Sajjad, another hostage.
Lal Bakhsh said that they watched the world cup in the police station and they were happy when India won the cup.We never faced any discrimination he added.
The three were on an Iranian fishing trawler, Al-Murtuza when the ship was hijacked by AK-47 borne Somali pirates from the Ballochistan sea in November.
Former human rights minister in Pakistan Ansar Burny,filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt and state minorities commission vice-chairperson Abraham Mathai worked to speed up the fomalities.
Mahesh Bhatt Said that thay spoke to Gurudas Kamat, the Union minister of state for home who arranged consular acces and his efforts speeded up the process.
