Mumbai, Jul 8: Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act provisions have been invoked against the main accused in the murder of senior crime journalist Jyotirmoy Dey.
The MCOCA provisions can be appled if at least two members of a crime gang have a minimum of two charge shets registered against them.
The main accused in connection with the murder are Vinod Chembur, Rohee Thangappan Joselh alias Satish Kalya and his associates Abhijeet Shinde, Arun Dake, Sachin Gaikwad, Anil Waghmode, Nilesh Shendge and Mangesh Agawane.
56-year-old Dey who had been working in for Mid Day Tabloid was shot by four assailants who sped away in motorcycles in Powai on June 11.
Police sources say that the accused were paid by Chhota Rajan to kill the journalist.
