Mangaluru: Manipal School celebrates International Day of Yoga

Mangaluru, Jun 24: Manipal School recently organized a series of engaging activities to celebrate the International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2023. The events aimed to promote the practice of yoga among students nurturing their physical and mental well-being.

As part of the celebrations, a '9 Days 9 Minutes Yoga Challenge' was conducted for students from Grades I to X. Students dedicated nine minutes each day to perform yoga exercises for nine consecutive days. The challenge commenced on June 9 and concluded on  June 21.

Additionally, a Yoga Quiz, organized by the Ministry of Ayush, was shared with students and staff. Students and teachers participated in the quiz, receiving certificates of participation for their active engagement in promoting yoga.

On the occasion of International Yoga Day, a colouring activity was conducted for students in Grades I to IV. Furthermore, students from Grades III and IV made notes in their school diaries about the nine virtues (Gratitude, Self-Discipline, Confidence, Determination, Truthfulness, Respect, Tolerance, Forgiveness and Kindness) they learned during the 9 Days 9 Minutes Yoga Challenge, encouraging the integration of these principles into their daily lives.

The IDY-2023 celebration culminated in a Junior school assembly on June 22. The event featured a student talk by Anush K S of Grade X, on the significance of Yoga Day. A demonstration of various Yoga poses was done by nine students of Grade IV, a teacher talk highlighting the benefits of yoga.

In her address, the principal Anuradha Shivaram emphasized the power of yoga. She encouraged the students to embrace yoga as a lifelong practice, reminding them of the countless benefits it brings to physical and mental well-being.
