Abu Dhabi, Aug 14: Bearys Welfare Forum (BWF), Abu Dhabi, an association well-known for its charitable and social activities, organized an Iftar party at India Social Centre, Abu Dhabi on Friday August 12.
BWF comprises Muslim brethren hailing from the coastal belt of Karnataka state, especially from Mangalore and Udupi. Around 600 people took part in this fellowship meal ignoring the sultry weather prevailing in UAE during this time.
BWF has been organizing annual Iftar party for the last few years and has now become quite a familiar and sought-after programme among the Muslims of coastal districts of Karnataka residing in Abu Dhabi.
The event began with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, by executive committee member Abdul Rauf.
Abdulla Madumoole, general secretary, BWF welcomed the gathering and conveyed his wishes for the season.
A religious speech was delivered by well-known Islamic scholar from Mangalore Sirajuddin Faiji, who is also the manager of Karnataka Islamic Center, Puttur.
A slide show highlighting the recent activities of BWF, especially conducting mass marriage of fifteen underprivileged girls in Mangalore and distribution of wheelchairs to disabled people and the new charity project ‘Toilet construction to the needy' was arranged by Abdul Jaleel Gurupur
Mohamed Rafeeq Krishnapur, coordinator, BWF thanked the gathering for their generosity and continuous support for all the social service activities undertaken by BWF.
Hamza Abdul Khader and Sheikh Bava, vice-presidents of BWF conveyed their best wishes.
Mohamed Ali Uchil, president, BWF, delivered an emotional speech entreating the community's affulent to look after the downtrodden and the needy of the community. He launched the BWF's new charity scheme 'Providing Toilets to the Underprivileged and needy people' and requested wholehearted and generous support to this programme. He also thanked the donors of all BWF charities for their continued support

Light refreshments (snacks, fruits and juices) were served during the Iftar, followed by a sumptuous dinner supplied by Famous Foodlands Restaurant. The guests had an opportunity for interaction with their friends and relatives from different parts of Abu Dhabi. Some of them travelled all the way from Dubai and Al Ain to join this Iftar party and gave the programme a unique and special identity.
Basheer Bajpe, chief advisor, thanked the guests for gracing the occasion and all the members of the executive committee for their wholehearted support.
