Cancer cases rising among children in Karnataka, hospitals facing shortage of experts

Daijiworld Media Network – Bengaluru (MS)

Bengaluru, Nov 17: The cases of cancer among children is rising in Karnataka. The shortage of oncologists is a cause of concern.

In 2022-23, 87000 new cases of cancer have been detected in children. It is mostly affecting children in the age group of 0 to 14 years. According to the cancer burden report that is released by Kidwai memorial institute of Oncology (KMIO) in September 2023, around 7-9% of children affected by all forms of cancer. In Bengaluru, the number is two percent.

Dr Arun Kumar, HOD of children’s department of KMIO said, “There is shortage of specialist oncologists to treat cancer in children. Earlier, the oncology cases of children were managed by medical or surgical oncologists because there were no super speciality doctors at that time. Now every year, super specialist doctors are getting ready in KMIO.

“Every day, four to five patients are treated in KMIO paediatric ward. Incidents of leukaemia, lymphoma, brain tumour, solid growth and soft bone tissue cancers are more among children,” he said.

Dr V Lokesh, director of KMIO, said, “If people take precautionary measures, around 50 percent of cancers can be reduced. Regular exercise, eating healthy food, consuming less or no alcohol and tobacco will reduce incidents of cancer considerably.”

Leveraging technology can effectively address shortages, presenting substantial opportunities for advancing the medical field through the utilization of AI, machine learning, and other cutting-edge technologies. Similar to routine medical tests, there appears to be a considerable fear associated with cancer screenings. Individuals should feel encouraged to undergo regular cancer-related tests to detect the disease at its early stages without hesitation.

People believe in anything media projects as reason for everything like climate change hoax. In reality childhood vaccines which are contaminated with cells of animals and other species were found to be causing cancers in children. Corona vaccines which were containing SV- 40 i.e., Simian Virus 40 strain are causing Turbo Cancers which cannot be treated with existing treatments. An important hidden information is everybody has cancer cells in them but immune system in healthy people will eliminate them without our knowledge.

@ Rita, Germany, again I repeat the climate change propaganda with fake data isn't real. Now coming to skin cancers is due to the carcinogenic contents in the sunscreen lotions and creams as well as over confidence in them promoting people to spend more time in the Sun than required by our immune system. White people are more affected by skin cancers as their skin lacks melanin like dark skinned and brown coloured people. The advantage we have against Sun damage is blessings in disguise protecting us against Sun damage. The data proves the use of sunscreen protection itself caused the rise in skin cancers compared to those who didn't apply them and didn't expose their bare bodies more than required to get skin tann. Only after doing my own search I always comment about any issues, thanks for your inputs.

The causes may be due to various factors like genetic mutations, environmental exposures, lifestyle changes. Exact causes often complex and not fully understood. A thorough investigation and study required.
