Kundapur, Aug 9: A python attempted to prey on a 12-foot-long King Cobra on Wednesday evening in Halaneeru, a village in Jadkal.

After the python abandoned its attempt, Snake Shankar, a reptile specialist from Amparu, intervened, separated the two reptiles, and with the help of locals, safely released them into the forest near Anezari.

The incident occurred in a paddy field belonging to Muttamma Shedthi of Halaneeru, where the python had swallowed the head of the King Cobra. Unable to consume the rest of the cobra's body, the python tried to suffocate it, while the King Cobra coiled around the python's tail.

Locals quickly informed Snake Shankar, who resolved the situation.
