Inspiration : Barber by Profession, he Owns 128 Luxury Cars!

Daijiworld Media Network - Bangalore

Bangalore, Apr 24 : 'Where there is a will, there is a way' may be a hackneyed phrase, but it still holds true in the case of achievers today who stand out from the crowd. They are ordinary people, but their thoughts, perseverance and achievements make them truly extraordinary.

Here is a rags to riches story of a barber, who truly is a 'cut' above the rest.

Ramesh Babu from Bangalore who is his late thirties dreamt big, but had no resources or godfathers to make his dreams come true. One of his desires was to own a fleet of luxury cars, but those days it seemed impossible, a far-fetched wish.

Today, he owns not one or two or three, but 128 luxuries cars including Rolls Roys, Mercedes, BMW and many more!

Ramesh's father who owned a small saloon died when Ramesh was a young boy. His mother did not have the means to make ends meet as Ramesh was still a child, and so his uncle took the responsibility to run the shop, and trained Ramesh too in the profession.

"Those days, my mother used to get only Rs 5 a day from my uncle as rent for our saloon," recalls Ramesh Babu.

In 1994, after PUC, Ramesh preferred to run his father's shop rather than continue his education. His expertise soon made him popular, and his clients included policemen, politicians, film personalities, sports personalities and public figures.

However, his profession did not make him rich, but he still cherished the dream owning a car.

He started off by buying a Maruti Omni in 1994 for personal use. And that, perhaps, was what changed his life forever.

Instead of using the car for himself, he rented it out. Even corporate companies would rent his vehicle, sometimes for weeks, sometimes for months.

Once he started earning revenue from his car renting business, he went on adding more cars.

"In 2004, I owned six different cars, and started expanding my business," says Ramesh Babu. "To attract big personalities, I invested in Mercdeds, BMW and Rolls Royce...it paid off," he says with pride.

He gives Rolls Royce on rent at Rs 50,000 a day, and when business is slack, he takes his wife and kids for a drive.

"My dream of driving a Rolls Roys is finally fulfilled," says Babu.

While adding on cars, he expanded his saloon business too, and opened two more shops around Bangalore.

"My first priority is my profession, my barber shop. That gave me bread and every day I work from 8 am till late evening. I visit all three saloons, and handle the work personally. This gives me enormous satisfaction," he says.

"Most of the clients for my fleet of cars are celebrities, including Salman Khan, Aishwarya Rai, and others, and top corporate companies," he adds.

Today he owns 128 cars! He runs his business under the company name Ramesh Tours and Travels in Bangalore.

He dedicates his success to his mother, recalling how she had struggled for him especially after the death of his father. "Her sacrifice and guidance have helped me to achieve my goal," he says.

His formula for success? - "All you need to succeed is confidence, relentless hardwork, dedication, and undeviating focus on your goal..and some luck..."

There is a saying in english that successful people dont do different things but they do things differently. Many people do cars hiring business and salon business but he might have done it in a different way. Hats off. But as long as one is in employment one has to be inspired continually by seeing such successful people and he cannot be an inspiration to others however intelligent he is and dedicated to his employment.

Degrees has nothing to do with 'richness'. morever these degrees limits one profession to particular field ,limiting his success , he can work and get some handsome salary but nothing as compared to peaple like this. Educated peaple have egos and they cannot start from scratch , i feel the right education ie how to make money is not taught anywhere in the colleges.

I feel its not the 'hard work' but the 'smart work ' together with luck and niche skills. Enterprising and enterpreneurship rules , i wonder some of the pheriwalas earn more than average utive from reputed mnc. Morever its something of his own , an utive warms the chair , takes orders from seniors , a kind of spring chicken i must say. Govt jobs like civis services are even scarier , first of all u get posted somewhere in remote village , forest , naxal place then salute school out politician , and then grafting , lokayaktha issues , conspiracies , its all the mess.

Peaple like this should be applauded and give confidence to all us , welldone bravo

It is rightly said by someone that the people who make "really big" in life are not the run-of-the-mill professionals who land up working for somebody, but the not so educated and ones who have out of the box thinking, who listen to their inner voice and not rely on conventional book knowledge!!!

Ramesh Babu is a real role model for hard working people who DREAM every minute and not like us who dream only in sleep...Simple example is Mr.J.Tata (Mumbai Taj Hotel). When Mr.Jamsetji Tata went to England,he had very bitter experience in 5 star hotel. When he returned to India,he told his sister "I Will Build World Famous Hotel,That is my Dream " On hearing that his sister and relatives laughed.Mr.Tata didn't laugh.Rest is History. Even, when terrorists from Pakistan did a barbaric act in Taj Hotel, this time Mr Ratan Tata said " I will build Taj Brick by Brick"..Rest is History again. US President Mr.Obama visited Mumbai Taj Hotel & Mr.Tata first, then went to Delhi to meet PM & President. That is a reward to DREAM COMES TRUE people !

While appreciating the "rags to Riches Story" coupled with "Hard work - determinationa and a bit of luck" - To "OWN" a fleet of 128 Luxury cars - is no mean acheivemnet unless a bit of hanky panky stuff contributed to this success. Even the top 5 * hotles have just a few of these luxury vehicles for the use of thier guests. If I am not mistaken this guy worked in '' Hair dressers on Brigade Road Bangalore and in those days (70's-80's & early 90's) it was a top end saloon.
