MCA came into existence in the year 2008, primarily to foster closer relations with people hailing from Mangalore residing in the Gulf. Over the past four years MCA has been able to live up to the expectations in looking after the welfare of the people in and around Mangalore. Harry Lobo, who hails from Shankarpura-Pangala of Udupi diocese and who is heading the association as its president says, "We want to make this event a memorable one with good arrangements and great ambience." .

What the Judges say
As announced earlier, Meena Rebimbus, Henry D'Souza, Joel Pereira and Fr Denis Dsa have been chosen as judges for the finals by the MCA.
Meena, Henry, Fr Denis and Joel
Joel Pereira, who is judging the event for the third time in as many GVOM seasons, says, "Contestants must remember that the songs which they select do not carry any marks,
it is only the singing that matters. Contestants always go for tough songs. But the tougher the song, the more you are exposed to mistakes. Singing a tough song doesn’t mean that you can win the title, if you cannot sing it properly."
"It’s simple. Sing in proper rhythm (groove is also important), style and most importantly, pitch, which is the base of any singing. Then comes the clarity of your words, the throw of your voice, co-ordination with the orchestra, and interaction with the audience through your singing. That’s all, follow this, and I’m sure you will have the title," advises Joel.
Fr Denis D’Sa, another judge, who is also an experienced administrator and is currently the administrator of Fr Muller Medical College, Mangalore says, "I am pleased to be among the panel of judges for GVOM contest season 3. I know we have a tough job at hand. Our job will be made easy when the contestants and their supporters understand the spirit and the objectives of the contest."
He further adds, "It’s only a competition and not a battle for supremacy or superiority. When the decisions are taken in the right spirit, all goes well. The judgment will take place on the quality of voice, the expressions and the lyrics. It is not based on costume or the external appearance of the singer. Mind you, the judges are human beings; they judge from their point of view on the criteria mentioned above and not from the point of view of the contestants and their supporters. "
Main coordinator Veena says, "The judgment will be based on the day’s performance of the singer and purely on the singing. We have selected the best of the best judges who have been associated with Konkani music and dedicated their life to singing. Their experience is this field is tremendous and surely the best singer and performer of the day will grab the title. We wish all the finalists every best and extend our full support and cooperation towards their participation in the grand finale."
