Sharjah parishioners converge for fun-filled get-together

Sharjah, Jan 29:
Parishioners of St Michael's parish, Sharjah came together to celebrate a fun-filled outdoor get-together 'Picnic -2013', organised by St Michael's Mangalorean Konkani Community (SMMKC).

The event was held at the Sharjah National Park on January 24. Many outdoor games, spot prizes, competitions and other fun-filled group activities. Breakfast, lunch and tea were served.

The event started with a prayer by SMMKC vice-president Cynthia Goveas followed by a welcome note by president Lawrence D’Souza, and later by a symbolic inauguration by Lawrence D’Souza and Cynthia Goveas with a game of ‘dog and the bone’. Roshan D’Silva started the proceedings with warm-up games and group song. Four groups were formed which competed with one another for the winner's title. 

A number of games were conducted by Roshan D'Silva, Godwin D'Souza and Sheela Carlo in the morning session. A few competitions and games were conducted for children as well, where kids below twelve years of age played with great enthusiasm. Valerian Alva and Dinesh Correa were supported by all SMMKC volunteers.

The post lunch session was conducted with a quiz followed by a unique group activity where participants were given various tasks.  A tug of war was also conducted.  All teams participated in the event with great team spirit and tried their best to get the title of winners.  Uzwad team led by Deepak D’Silva stood first among four teams. Housie was conducted and prizes were distributed at the end, followed by a 'Laudate'.

Over 250 parishioners attended the family get-together and it was a fun-filled outing for all.
