Mangalore, Jan 5: In these days an acute dearth of good Konkani plays as well as playwrights is felt immensely.  Owing to the overwhelming presence of TV, silver screen and other means, theatre and theatrists have been neglected in almost every language.  Only a few years ago halls used to be jam packed for any Konkani play despite having to pay ticket or even being staged at some distance places.  But in today's changed circumstances, people will not come for a Konkani drama even if 'free passes' are served.  The love for theatre and moreover a love for the mother tongue has been rapidly vanishing from the midst of the populace.

This is why there is hardly anyone coming forward to stage a Konkani drama these days.  But Mick Max, a renowned Konkani artiste, music composer, writer, playwright and an efficient compere has come forward to stage a Konkani drama at Town Hall here on Saturday January 7 evening at 6.30.

The Konkani play "Chor Baba Chor" written and directed by Mick Max himself will be staged on Saturday evening.  It is an innovative play with only 5 artistes and a single scene.  Speaking to Daijiworld, Mick Max said that the comedy play would keep the audience glued to their chairs for about 2 hours with its innovation and spontaneous flow of hilarious dialogues.  Renowned Konkani stage actors Richie (Richard), Claud D'Souza, Mellu (Melwyn Almeida), Rita and Robin are all set to take the audience to the new heights of laughter with their acting.

The audience will also be served with delicious pudding of best of Mick Max's songs during the play.  This will be the only show in Mangalore.  Tickets have been priced at Rs 100, 50 and 30 each and are available at the usual places.
