Mangalore, Sep 15: Poornima Padalady, a resident of Ariyadka, Puttur, has not just made the country proud, but also the readers of daijiworld. After the timely financial support from daijiworld readers, Poornima, who participated in the Indo-Malaysian International Women's Throwball match returned victorious.
On July 24, daijiworld had carried an appeal to help Poornima realize her dream of participating in the championship. Once again, the generous readers rose to the occasion and came forward to pool in more than the required amount of Rs 1 lac.
Poornima did not disappoint. In the three-day match between India and Malaysia, she and her team defeated Malaysia with a 7-2 margin in three sets.
Poornima was among 15 others including the coach who represented India in the competition. Among them, six are from Karnataka (four from DK and Udupi), five from Bihar, and three from Maharashtra.
The league was Asian, organized under the aegis of Throwball Federation Malaysia which is affiliated to International Throwball Federation and was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
A happy Poornima P approached daijiworld office along with her brother and expressed her heartfelt gratitude. “When I met the assistant deputy commissioner (ADC) for the passport, I was told about the special charity column of this news site. It was only due to the help of daijiworld readers that I could go there, get the needed exposure, and come back victorious. I am excited and will continue to dedicate myself to sports,” she said thanking the donors.
The team including Poornima won the second place in the 36th Senior National Throwball Championship for Men and Women–2013 organized by Throwball Federation of India, which is recognized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India. Poornima was also a part of the national meet held recently in Haryana and emerged as the runner-up.
From the selections at the Haryana national-level meet, she was chosen to represent India along with 11 other sportswomen from different parts of the country.
Daijiworld once again thanks its readers for supporting deserving and needy people time and again and proving that humanity still exists in this world.
