Fugitive South Korean soldier captured alive


Seoul, June 23 (IANS): A fugitive South Korean solider, who killed five comrades Saturday night, was captured Monday after attempting to commit suicide with a rifle, media reported.

The armed soldier attempted to kill himself with his K-2 gun, after firing some 10 shots at his fellow soldiers around 8.15 p.m. Saturday, killing five and injuring seven others, Xinhua reported.

The runaway army sergeant, identified only by his surname Lim, attempted a suicide around 2.55 p.m. as his father and brother were pleading with him to turn himself in to the military.
