Mangalore, November 24: ' Mr Dakshina Kannada', a district-level Bodybuilding Competition was organized under the auspices of District Bodybuilding Association(DK) on Friday, November 24, here in the Town Hall.

State minister for fisheries and endowment Nagaraj Shettyinaugurated the function.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that people from the Tulunadu (Mangalore) have always been at the top when it comes to sporting events like weight lifting and bodybuilding. He however, revealed that lack of proper nutrition, food, unemployment etc are hindrances that come in the way of the development of many young bodybuilders.

He mentioned that a special incentive for such sportspersons will be considered by the Government.

The winner and the runner up of this event will reserve their place at the State Level Bodybuilding Championship slated to be held in December.

Results will be published when they are announced.

Member of the Legislative Council Ganesh Karnik, Stayfit Bangalore CEO G K Ganesh Reddy, Secretary of the Karnataka State Bodybuilding Association, John Rebello, President Ravindranath Rai and Secretary of the District Bodybuilding Association Tejpal Ameen, were present on the occasion.
