Chikmagalur, Jan 16:
Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha and Karnataka Dalit Sangharsha Samithi have welcomed the State government’s move to introduce eggs in the mid-day meal scheme.

According to a press release, Nijagunamurthy of Raitha Sangha said that children should be supplied with egg for the healthy growth. He mocked at the seers who opposed the government’s move to introduce egg in the mid-day meal.

Stating that all the bakery and ready-made food use egg as one of the ingredients, he said the seers never opposed such food items.

The release said that egg does not have any organisms in it. But has proteins which is good for the healthy growth of an individual.

When the government has announced to introduce banana if the children do not eat egg in a school, then what was the need to oppose the move, he asked.

The release stated that 30 to 40 per cent children suffer from malnutrition. In this background, there is no harm in the government’s move to introduce eggs in the mid-day meal scheme.
