Mangaluru, May 2: The police have arrested three persons in connection to four recent cases of assault in the limits of Ullal police.
This was revealed by police commissioner Chandra Sekhar in a press meet at his office here on Monday May 2.
The arrested are Rahul Poojary (22), a resident of Mogaveerapatna and fisherman by profession, auto driver Prajwal alias Hemachandra (21), a resident of Amblamogaru, and Vineeth (22), a resident of Thokkottu who is into fabrication work.
Based on a tip-off, the CCB police arrested the three near Pachanady, Vamanjoor.
They were arrested in connection to the assault on Lathif and Saleem at Kodi on April 14, assault on Ibrahim Nafsan on April 25 at Kodi, attempt to murder Safwan, Nizam and Saleem the same night (among whom Safwan died later), and attack on Safwan Hasan at Kallapu Patna on April 26, and other cases.
Rahul Poojary is the prime accused in all the four cases, and already faces charges in five other cases, all of them attempts-to-murder under Ullal police limits, one under Mangaluru rural limits and another Mangaluru north limits.
Prajwal too is an accused in two attempts-to-murder cases, under Ullal and Mangaluru south police limits.
Prajwal and Vineeth were directly involved in the attack on Safwan at Kallapu Patna on April 26.
With this, the total number of arrests in the recent Ullal attacks has gone up to eight.
The police commissioner also reiterated that those who attack innocents would not be spared.
CCB inspector Valentine D'Souza led the arrest operation, assisted by PSI Shyamsunder and other personnel.
