Mangaluru, May 2: “Unani block will be built at the district Wenlock Hospital at a cost of Rs 9 crore,” informed health minister U T Khader during a press meet held at circuit house on Monday, May 2.
Addressing the media persons, Khader said, “We have got administrative approval for the construction of 50 beds Unani block at district Wenlock hospital. The new block is built with the grants 60 % from central and 40 % from state. 58 posts have been created for the Unani block and appointment would be done at the earliest.”
Speaking about the recent incident in his constituency, he said, “Some anti-social elements are trying to disrupt peace in the society. Since people did not give heed to these anti-social activities and helped police in the investigation, the real culprits have been caught. I thank and urge people to continue peace in the constituency,”
When asked by the media persons whether he would get any compensation for the innocent victims in the Ullal incident, he said, “I will place the request before chief minister to sanction compensation for the victims and also for late Vinayak Baliga.”
When asked about increasing drug peddling activities in Ullal area, he said, “The drug suppliers are making youngsters addicted to these drugs. The department and public should be more cautious and support the police department in catching these culprits. I have already spoken to commissioner in this regard to take necessary action against this menace.”
