Mangaluru, Nov 24: “More than seventy people have lost their lives due to the undemocratic demonization by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the union government is not yet ready to help the poor," said PV Mohan, member of AICC.
He was addressing the protest in front of the DC's office on Thursday, November 24 after rendering obituary to the people who lost their lives due to reasons relating to the effect of demonization in the country.
"Today the date is November 24 and still people are in the queue in front of ATMs. According to RBI, the black money in the country accounts to 6% of GDP. But more than 100 crore people are on the queue and more than 7 people including a bank manager have lost their lives. The situation has so worse that a person has to stand in queue even to spend his hard earned money," Mohan added.
"As per statistics 10 % of people possess 87 percent of the wealth. So the governor of the reserve bank has to answer who has the black money. Is it those 10% people or the people who are standing on the queue daily?" he questioned.
"They gave 6 months for the wealthy and black money holders to announce their assets and make it white, whereas for common man they could not give even a single day before announcing of the demonization. It is a Tughlak Darbar,
"The RBI and the government have brought new rule stating the people can withdraw Rs 2.5 lac for the wedding. Can the wedding be done with Rs 2.5 lac?" he continued.
“The SIT has investigated and has submitted the names of 657 people who are said to have deposited black money in Swiss banks which amounts to Rs 1 lac crore. If you have the guts reveal the names of these black money holders and do not trouble the daily wage workers, poor and other common people who are standing in the queue's daily.” Mohan concluded.
The president of district youth Congress Mithun Rai alleged that daily people are losing their lives for lies of Prime Minister Modi and demonization is a conspiracy to make black money and not to curb the black money. “Just before one hour before Narendra Modi’s speech a state BJP unit deposited Rs 1 crore into the bank account. Such deposits had increased five times in September and October. These are evidences for the same." Rai added.
“Modi said that he will make the thrives and black money holders stand on the queue. Since so many days so many people of the district have seen standing in the queue. Are they the thieves, or are they the ones to have black money. Modi is ready to say anything for his political benefits." Rai alleged.
"They introduced two thousand notes to curb the black money. It looks like the lottery bill which used to be in the market during our childhood days. In many notes some numbers look faded with only zero visible. What was the need to print such cheap notes?" Rai questioned.
"The new notes were confiscated along with the dead bodies of the terrorists. Now you have launched a mafia to bring fake Rs 2000 and Rs 50 notes into the system,” he continued.
"Urjith Patel was appointed as the RBI governor two months ago wherein Modi in his demonization speech said that the new notes were being printed since six months. Then how can the new notes contain the signature of the new governor? All the aspects including bringing black money from Swiss Bank and depositing Rs 15 lac each in every account are the series of lies. It is the common man who is losing his life for the series of lies in the country" Rai opined.
While rendering his inaugural address the working president of district Congress Ibrahim Kodijal pointed out that the demonization is a black spot on democracy. "It is an autocratic decision by the Prime Minister Modi. Acche Din has come to Ambani and Adani and the common man is still struggling in the financial emergency."
“Modi is patting his back by saying 90 % of people have welcomed the decision of demonization. Sarcastically he has done the survey through his own TV channel and got this percentage. In reality, 95 % of people including BJP workers are unhappy about the decision. It is the height of injustice. The daily wage workers, small merchants have been completely ruined.” Kodijal said.
Congress leaders TK Sudhir, Nazeer Bajal, Harinath, ZP members MS Mohammed, Mamatha Gatti, DK women Congress president Shalet Pinto, corporators AC Vinayaraj, Lancelot Pinto and others were present at the occasion.
