Ponda, Jan 14 (Herald Goa): Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar was confident on Friday that the schemes floated by the BJP government would help the party win two-third majority in the elections.
He predicted that only one of the two Dhavalikar brothers would retain his seat. He said that despite securing majority in 2012, the BJP offered two portfolios to MGP.
“There was no need to offer these portfolios, but we honoured the alliance promise. But after reaping benefits of power, the MGP leaders severed the alliance,” he said.
He appealed the cadre to work for the defeat of Priol MLA Deepak Davlikar.
Parrikar alleged that the government could not fulfil the demands of Marcaim villagers for a bridge owing to the obstruction of local MLA and former PWD minister Sudin Dhavalikar.
He also accused Sudin of closing Zuvari Bridge for heavy vehicles, without proper planning, which he said, is causing suffering to Ponda residents.
Former MLA and Speaker Adv Vishwas Satarkar ridiculed MGP President Deepak Dhavalikar as the most inactive MLA. He also accused Deepak of failing to develop his Priol constituency, but instead focused on Cumbarjua and Shiroda constituencies.
