Patna, Oct 7: A student of Lalit Narayan Mithila University (LNMU) in Darbhanga district, Bihar was shocked to see Lord Ganesha’s photo and signature in place of his in the exam admit card.

Krishna Kumar Roy, a first-year BCom (Hons) student of JN College, Nehra had to run from pillar to post to get the bizarre mistake rectified and be allowed to write the university exam that began from October 4.

Alleging that several students from his college faced similar issues, he said that many had to do several rounds of the college and submit documents to get mistakes rectified. “They are playing with our lives. The university seems to be running on the mercy of gods,” he alleged.

Meanwhile, the University has distanced itself from the controversy.

“The mistake was not at our end but that of the cyber café where the student had gone to submit his examination form online. At our university, all examination forms have to be submitted online,” LNMU registrar Mustafa Kamal Ansari told a newspaper.

He said that the admit card will be valid only after it is countersigned by the college principal. All college principal’s have been directed to verify admit cards before signing them, he said.

He confirmed that Krishna Kumar Roy’s admit card has been rectified. LNMU is among the 16 state-run universities in Bihar. It has 25 affiliated colleges and 43 constituent colleges under it.
