Mangalore, Jul 8: Speaking to leading Daily Times of India, Atul Rao, perceived to be holding the key for unravelling the mystery shrouding the death of Padmapriya, promised to spill the beans by calling a press conference as soon as he succeeds in getting bail in the case against him. The judicial custody of Atul, who is recuperating in the prison cell of the local Wenlock district hospital for back pain and asthma, ends on Wednesday July 9. He is set to be produced in the Udupi court on that day.
Rao said he is afraid of serious repercussions if he choses to bare everything now itself. Reminded that he had made a similar promise when he had been let off once, Rao said the police took him into their custody before he could speak out then. Saying that he is being framed by his good friend without mentioning Raghupathi Bhat's name, Rao said he is suffering from back-ache caused by a fall he had suffered several months back, down a few steps. "I have been suffering from asthma for the last 14 months and both these problems have worsened because of the stress and strain I have been going through for the past one month," he claimed. Atul also said he was fearful of his politician friend who can use his clout to send him back to jail, duly ensuring that he does not get any treatment. "My friend has a lot to hide and does not want me to bare all," he said.
Wenlock hospital superintendent Prabahudev informed the paper that orthopaedists who looked into Atul's problems did not find anything wrong with his back. However, as regards asthma complaint, reports are yet to come in, he revealed.
