Mangaluru: FMCSH to hold decennial year celebrations on Jan 13

Mangaluru, Jan 12: The decennial year finale celebrations of Father Muller College of Speech and Hearing will hold its decennial year finale celebrations at Father Muller Convention Centre on January 13.

The celebrations will begin at 10 am where Dr N Shivashankar, professor and HOD of Speech Pathology and Audiology, NIMHANS, Bengaluru, will be the chief guest and Msgr Denis Moras Prabhu, vicar general, Mangalore Diocese and vice-president, FMCI will preside over the function.

The well known Father Muller Charitable Institutions was established in 1880 under the leadership of Fr Augustus Muller in Kankanady the heart of Mangaluru. The tireless efforts of the founder and manifold blessings of God Almighty has enabled the institution to spread its wings around giving shelter to various Medical and Paramedical Colleges. The Father Muller College of Speech and Hearing was one of the last colleges of this renowned institution which started in 2007 and is now celebrating the decennial year.

The outpatient department of speech and hearing began in 1984 as a part of ENT Department. In the year 2007 under the able leadership of late Fr Patrick Rodrigues and the then dean of Medical College Dr B Sanjeev Rai with the nomenclature of ‘Father Muller College’ got affiliated to Mangalore University and received RCI recognition.
Within a short span of 10 years the college has made its existence felt by getting NAAC accreditation, NABH and 2(f) and 12(B) States from UGC. Father Muller College of Speech and Hearing is the second college in India and the only college under Mangalore University to receive this great honor.

In the past 10 years the college has undertaken various activities like:

1. Faculty development programme
2. Students progression and success activities
3. Organizing conference and seminars
4. Public awareness programme
5. Research activities

The college has made steady progress in the last 10 years and the small beginning with 3 students is now accommodating 33 students in a batch. The college is joyfully celebrating the 10 successful years of blessings and growth.
