While the attractions are unlimited, Raymond D’Souza who did the country proud with his beautiful body will be a special guest and will be honoured on the occasion. Apart from Raymond, there will be other special personalities also who will be honoured for their respective achievements in various fields.
Raymond D’Souza, despite 44 now, continues his daily practice of attending the gymnasium and taking care of his most beautiful body. In fact, today he has his own gym named Raymond’s Gym in Mangalore where he coaches aspiring youngsters to become contenders in weight lifting, body building and power lifting too.
Raymond has participated in several meets at almost all levels including local, state, national and international where he has excelled with numerous wins. However, he considers his title of ‘MR. WORLD’ which he won at Japan in 1990 as the most cherishable. Raymond is the first ever Indian to win this title. Raymond has participated in the Mr. World contest 6 times. This apart, he has been picked as the winner at various competitions in the country as the Bharath Shreshta (8 times), Bharath Kumar (1 times), Bharath Shree (6 times) and Bharath Kishore (1 time) at the national level repeatedly. Being an employee of the Corporation Bank, he has lifted the Inter Bank title at least 15 times in his career. The list of victories is endless and with so many trophies, the trophy cabinet has been overflowing.
Raymond is happily married to Sylvia with a daughter named Ryvia and a son Rayston. As if body building was not enough, Raymond has also been seen on the silver screen having acted in movies like Annaji, Mari Bale, Police Story, Thriller Killer, Dalvahi and Maya Jinkhe.
Having tasted success Raymond is quick to remember the support and encouragement given by his employers and his coaches like the late Mr. Ganesh Pandeshwar and also the most popular former physical director of K.M.C., M.S. Kumar, who was yet another stylish personality with such a beautiful body. This writer had the pleasure of seeing Mr. Kumar whenever he made his presence felt at almost all the hockey matches K.M.C. played against St. Aloysius and even if no one cared for the other spectators, everyone ensured that they had a good look at Mr. Kumar who gave so much confidence to his players especially with his regal presence. His was yet another ‘Body Beautiful’ indeed.
Raymond’s body building ventures have taken him all around the world and as he gets set to land in Dubai for the Tulu Parba on Dec.5, every tulu son of the soil should feel proud of his achievements and welcome him to make him feel at home among his countrymen.
