Imran Khan fails to follow diplomatic code yet again

Bishkek, Jun 14: The Shanghai Cooperation Summit was recently held in Kyrgyzstan’s capital Bishkek on Thursday. The opening ceremony saw a lot of eyebrows raised toward the prime minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan. Khan has yet again come under fire for breaking the diplomatic code of conduct.

A video was posted on the twitter handle of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). Khan is shown seated before the other leaders of the states who arrived. Realizing the faux pas that he was the only one in his seat, he briefly stood up, only to immediately sit down again.

Khan broke the diplomatic protocol earlier as well, in the 14th OIC summit when he met the king of Saudi, Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. Khan was seen conveying a message to the King’s translator, but just before the message could be translated, Khan walked off. He faced a lot of criticism for his action from the people of Saudi Arabia and his own country.

The summit held in Bishkek is being attended by SCO member countries. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also one of the attendees at this two-day summit.
