Mangalore: Development Works to Change City's Face in Two Years: Mayor

Mangalore, May 30: “The city is growing at a fast face. The city sill undergo a drastic transformation within two to three years, due to various developmental initiatives being undertaken,”said Shankar Bhat, mayor, Mangalore City Corporation on Friday, May 29.
He was speaking in an interactive programme on ‘Mangalore City Development’ organized by Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) followed by the felicitation of the mayor.
The city corporation has undertaken projects worth Rs 208 crore within one year, towards the development of troads, water and the drainage system, concreting of major roads being one of them. With the water distribution line laid additionally, which will be inaugurated within two weeks, the water supply capacity has increased by 22mgd in addition to the present 18 mgd, Bhat informed.
`The MCC will be coming out a revised Self Assessment Property Tax Scheme within a month, which will considerably lower the burden on the people, he revealed. He also hailed the the KCCI for being involved with the development of the city, by offering valuable suggestions. KCCI also presented a list of suggestions to the mayor on this occasion.
Son of the mayor, Karthik Kashyap, The 140th rank holder in Indian Administrative Service examination also felicitated by the KCCI.
Receiving the honour, Karthik Kashyap suggested to encourage the children to get in to IAS exams, which a way to serve the society.
Shrinivas S Kamath, president, KCCI presided over the functions, the office bearers, G G Mohandas Prabhu, Latha R Kini, Ahmed Bava, Chandrakanth rao were present and members took part in the interaction.
