Thanks to Daijiworld Readers - Padoor Family Gets a Lifeline..
Daijiworld Media Network—Udupi (RD/CN)
Udupi, Jun 14: It is yet again heartening to see the unity of people belonging to various communities in lending a helping hand to those in need.
Hardly two weeks ago, daijiworld.com carried a story outlining the pathetic situation of Appi Moolya’s family which was in dire need of financial support.
Within a few days, money poured in from all over the world, and proved how generosity has no barriers of religion, language, or caste.
The Moolya family had never even heard the name of daijiworld and they do not know what the internet or website is, but now they have no words to express their gratitude to all those who quietly sent money to their bank account.
“What else can I give them except my blessings and prayers”, says elderly Appi, her eyes brimming with tears.
About Rs 4 lac has accumulated in the savings bank accounts of physically handicapped Harish and Baby.
Harish and Baby’s savings bank accounts have been credited with almost equal amounts as on Saturday June 13. The grand amount is inclusive of generous contributions from donors from across Karnataka, other Indian states and also most of them from Non-resident Indians (NRIs).
Thirty-eight-year old Harish and thirty-four-year old Baby are Appi’s children, residing at Kuralu, near Padoor. Polio struck the duo when they were just six months old leaving them disabled.
Their aged mother has been sustaining her handicapped offspring by rolling beedies and doing odd jobs in the locality. Despite their physical limitations, both Harish and Baby were helping supplement the family income by also rolling beedies.
Thus, they managed to make ends meet on a daily basis.
Local community members too have thanked kind-hearted Daijiworld readers for helping a good cause since it has given the family a ray of hope.
The head of Shiroor Math also visited the Moolya residence and contributed rice and other food items besides extending them financial assistance.
