Udupi, Sep 15: Sri Vibhudeshateertha Swamiji, senior Swamiji of Admar Mutt, was the president of Admar Mutt Education Council (AMEC). He also was the president of the governing councils of the educational institutions run by AMEC. In addition, he happened to be the chairman of Admar Mutt Education Foundation. He set up 27 educational institutions and ran them on secular principles and contributed to their growth through his spiritual guidance.
Through his 'Poornaprajna' educational institutions, he provided a new dimension to the educational sector and provided inner strength to these institutions. The Poornaprajna educational institutions, functioning at various places of the country, have been known for their quality teaching, discipline and value systems.
The Swamiji, who had taken part in the freedom struggle before being ordained into religious order, joined Srikrishna Mutt lineage of spiritual personalities, when he was 17 years-old. He set up Sanskrit College in Udupi, thus realizing the long-cherished dream of his Guru, Sri Raghumanyateertha Swamiji. About 17,000 students are presently pursuing their studies in the educational institutions set up by him.
In the year 1988, the Swamiji set up Poornaprajna Institute of Scientific Research, for giving impetus to pure, basic sciences by attracting interested students and to carve out a bright future for the talented youngsters of the nation. He always nursed an interest in science and the moulding of the youths. For this very purpose, the above centre came into being.
With the aim of guiding the Indian youth towards a brighter future, he had undertaken visits to USA and England. Through his research centre, he set up 17 other centres and 17 departments. Admar Mutt Education Foundation has been recognized as a non-profit organization in North America. When in England, he had proposed for instituting an award of the stature of the nobel prize, to be given to a country which maintains a high degree of righteousness and remains environmental-friendly, through which, he brought out his inner desire to spread peace and love of nature all over the world.
By presenting an essay on poverty alleviation at the conclave of religious leaders from all over the world held in the year 1999, he had stressed the necessity for the local people to be partners in poverty alleviation.
The Swamiji always had highest empathy and concern for the poor people and the neglected classes. In Bangalore, he had provided sites to 52 families from drought-hit areas. He also had given 31 sites to different families in chikmagalur district, and looked after 17 families after adopting three villagers in Bagepalli.
He was a great patriot and visionary. He deemed 'Poornaprajna (total education)' as the protective power and built all the educational institutions with this name. "If we rightly shape the young population of the country, the future of the country also gets shaped," he used to say.
The Swamiji strongly believed that training of intelligence, enthusiasm, mind and body were necessary for the personality of a person to bloom. For realizing this goal, he set up Poornaprajna educational institutions.
