Bantwal, Jul 6: A case has been filed in Bantwal rural police station against a groom, his father and some others. Allegedly a Mehndi programme in connection with an upcoming marriage had been arranged at a house at Ammunje in the valuk, and the people who attended the function had danced to the loud music played with the help of mike.

Shivappa Poojary from Ammunje, his son, Tilak Raj, and some others have been identified as the accused. A case has been registered against them under sections 269 and 270 of the Indian Penal Cand sectoion 5 (1) of the Karnataka Epidemic Disease Ordinance 2020.

Some people who participated in the Mehndi programme at Ammunje had danced as DJ music was played aloud. It is said that over 200 people participated in the programme, and those who attended the programme were not wearing face masks. The youngsters at the function danced at will without caring to maintain social distance. A video of the young people who had gathered there dancing wildly to the loud music beats had been widely shared on the social media.

The state government has barred the attendance of more than 50 people at marriage functions. The information that the family concerned had violated rules in several ways had been widely being discussed. Taking notice of this, the district superintendent of police had issued instructions to the rural police here to investigate. During the investigation, the police found that the lockdown rules were indeed violated at the function. The function was organized at the residence of Shivappa Poojary from Ammunje on July 1, in connection with the proposed marriage of Shivappa's son, Tilak Raj.

Bantwal rural police registered a case against Shivappa Poojary, Tilak Raj and some others int this connection on Sunday July 5.

Let's not get in to who did, he did , why did ... etc. As of now, this incident need to be take seriously and strict action to be taken against the hosts. Because this will set a wrong bench mark for others to follow.
Impact could be huge , considering the rate in which the COVID 19 is spreading in this vicinity. So, no excuse and a strict action by police / law is expected.

    Dear authorities,
    This should be taken seriously
A severe punishment should be dealt out
But remember, please file the similar case, similar ipc, similar penalty that you are going to impose on ministers who do such events. Not too long ago one minister had a birthday party, take that as the guidelines and penalise people.

Unless you decide and publish that ministers are immune to spreading the virus , in that case make all of us ministers
Lets see who has more ability now virus or ministers or commoners

    Jai hind

This is became fashion in Tulu Nadu.. Mehendi function was not a part of our Tuluva's culture.
People copied this from North India adding Disco/Bangra with Single malt or IMFL flavor.
After all its their wish and their money. But they should refrained during this tough time.
