Mangaluru: NITK organizes webinar on National Education Policy

Mangaluru, Aug 28: After the release of a public document on National Education Policy (NEP) - 2020 by the ministry of Education formerly known as MHRD under the Government of India, NITK Surathkal took up an envisaged action on building the framework of systematic implementation of this new education policy. As a first step, it set forth a webinar series by inviting distinguished academicians from national technical education accreditation bodies and top technical education institutes. The first webinar was held on August 25 on National Education Policy - 2020 on the theme 'Roles of Institute of National Importance'.

To understand the objectives and modalities of NEP 2020, NITK is planning to organize the webinar series by inviting distinguished speakers to share their thoughts to zero in the strategic plan. As part of this webinar series, on August 25, the first webinar on NEP 2020 was delivered by distinguished speaker, Professor N C Shiva Prakash of IISc, Bengaluru, on the topic – NEP 2020: Roles of Institute of National Importance.

Professor N C Shivaprakash, from the department of Instrumentation, Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru was the chief guest and speaker for the seminar. The webinar presentation was followed by an interactive session between the participants and the speaker.

NITK director, Professor Umamaheshwar Rao welcomed the gathering, the introduction speech was delivered by the deputy director, Professor Ananthanarayana V S. The presidential address was delivered by Professor K Balaveera Reddy, chairman, BOG and Professor K P Vittal, dean, proposed the vote of thanks.

The event was live cast on YouTube to facilitate the participation of faculty, staff, students, alumni and well-wishers of the institute.
