Mangaluru: AICTE-sponsored five-day faculty development programme held at MITE

Moodbidri, Sep 12: Mangalore Institute of Technology & Engineering (MITE), here, conducted a five-day faculty development programme on 'Emerging Trends in Sustainable Technologies' from September 7 to 11.

MITE was selected by AICTE-ATAL to organize a funded five-day faculty development programme for the faculty members from AICTE approved technical institutions, research scholars, PG scholars throughout the country.

The FDP was conducted by the department of Mechanical Engineering, which is also NBA accredited. Technical experts, academicians from IITs, scientists from IISC, researchers from various academic institutions and industry experts from various streams participated in the event as keynote speakers and discussion panel members.

The aim of this faculty development programme was to provide exposure to faculty members, practicing engineers, and postgraduate students on the concepts of 'Recent Advances in Renewable Energy Technologies'. The FDP covered recent research trends on Renewable Energy Sources, Solar Photovoltaic Technology & Wind Energy Conversion Systems, solar cells, solar modules, design and installation of solar photovoltaic systems, wind power plants, energy storage, system controllers for solar photovoltaic & wind systems, microgrid components, energy storage modelling, modelling hybrid renewable energy system and Power management strategies in Smart micro-grid. The FDP was succeeded to brought together experts from Energy Engineering, Power Management, manufacturing and material domains to take stock of current knowledge, share information and best practices and build consensus on the actions most needed to move forward.

The sanction of the faculty development programme by AICTE-ATAL to the department of Mechanical Engineering proved the consistent and sustained demonstration of excellence in grooming Students as per the industry requirements. Also, recently, the department of Mechanical Engineering bagged the first prize in VTU project competition, first rank with 11 gold medals from VTU Belagavi in 2019-2020 and also bagged consecutively two years the ‘Best project of the year’ in 2018 and 2019 by the Karnataka State Council for Science & Technology (KSCST).

With a new BE course in Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning introduced this year, MITE offers quality education in eight engineering Streams including Computer Science & Engineering, Information Science & Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering with accreditations from NAAC and NBA.
