Udupi, Dec 1: Adani owned Udupi Power Corporation Limited organized a vanamahotsav programme by distributing saplings to the villagers and planting saplings on the premises of Belapu gram panchayat. The programme was organized under the CSR initiative of Adani’s UPCL.
Dr Devi Prasad Shetty, former president of Belapu gram panchayat, welcomed the initiation of Adani’s CSR in promoting the green environment in the surrounding villages and its contribution for the infrastructural development of the villages as well as delivering the benefits to the villagers.
Later, Kishore Alva said that as in previous years Adani Foundation initiated the Social Forestry programme this year too, but because of the COVID pandemic, the implementation got delayed. The company has a target to plant nearly 10,000 saplings. He said that vanamahotsav should not be restricted only to plantations, but it should be extended to the maintenance of the plant and it should be the responsibility of every citizen. He also informed that the company is executing the infrastructure development works in the surrounding 7-gram panchayats of Kaup taluk, as per the action plan given by the individual gram panchayats and welcomed the support by panchayat and villagers for the successful implementation of the CSR programmes.
Kaup taluk panchayat’s vice-president, U C Shekabba, former members of Belapu gram panchayat and Ravi R Jere, DGM, Adani UPCL, were present on the occasion.
