RIYADH, Nov 29(Arab News): A periodic meeting of the executive council of the health ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) will discuss unified purchase and tariff of medicines and hospital supplies, electronic connectivity between data centers and the health ministers' council, and problems relating to expatriates.
The topics of discussion in the two-day meeting, which is to take place in Riyadh on Saturday, will also include combating non-communicable diseases with a special focus on diabetes and cancer control, combating smoking, organ transplants, emergency medical services, spreading health awareness among GCC citizens, eradication of polio, and the use of smart cards in the health sector. The meeting will also review a report on a e-health conference hosted by the Kingdom in May, an official of the council said.
