This is not the first death at UPCL plant. At least 30-40 poor immigrant laborers from UP, Jarkhand area lost their lives. The safety and health factors at the plant site is zero and there is no need to highlight it. Whether it is labour death, or polluting neighborhood or violation of other rules the police, politicians and district officials have a financial windfall everytime there is an incident. Hardly any cases seem to have been registered. Several argued that the plant would provide huge employment opportunity for the natives. How many locals got jobs in UPCL? How many displaced are happy with rehabilitation? And what is its contribution to the progress of the area?
